Let us shine a light on your chemistry – Our photochemistry services
Photochemistry involves chemical reactions of atoms or molecules electronically excited by light absorption of the appropriate wavelength. Photons are the ideal reagent because they leave no residue behind, have excellent atom efficiency, allow for mild processing conditions and do not need protective groups. Photochemistry allows reactions that are not accessible at thermal conditions. Hence, photochemistry is a valuable tool in the route scouting toolbox.
Our expertise in photochemistry covers initial screening for optimal wavelength, mode of operation, and reactor type. Followed by lab scale feasibility study and subsequent optimization of critical parameters such as temperature, photon flux, effective optical pathlength and degree of conversion. Finally, the photo reactor and light source will be scaled-up and piloted in our pilot plant.
We apply falling film, annular flow and immersion well, photo reactors. The available light sources are low- or medium-pressure mercury lamps and monochromatic LED lamps.
